A BILL to amend and reenact section eighteen, article four,
chapter eighteen-a of the code of West Virginia, one
thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, relating to
requiring that all professional and service personnel
employed by the state department of education receive at
least the same pay as comparable employees of the county
board of education, instead of just professional employees
receiving that salary minimum.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That section eighteen, article four, chapter eighteen-a of
the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one,
as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 4. SALARIES, WAGES AND OTHER BENEFITS.
§18A-4-18. Department of education certified staff salaries.
Professional and service personnel employed by the state department of education who are required to hold a teaching
certificate shall receive a salary that is at least equal to the
salary paid to comparable professional and service personnel
employed by the county board of education wherein their office
principal place of employment is located, minus the six hundred
dollars authorized pursuant to section two of this article for
classroom teachers with twenty years of experience for
professional personnel.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require that all
professional and service personnel employed by the state
department of education receive at least the same salary as
comparable employees of the county board of education.
